Safety and handling — Mod Podge

Made in the USA — Plaid quality standards

Our brush-on formulas are water based and non-toxic. The aerosol sealers are not in the same category and want different handling. Read the label on the bottle or can in front of you; it is the version that applies to the batch you own.

Brush-on formulas

Safe for a kitchen table and for supervised children. Wash splashes off skin with soap and water. Keep it out of eyes; if it goes in, rinse with water for several minutes. It is not food and should not be swallowed — get medical advice if a child drinks any.

Aerosols

Spray outdoors or in a room with real airflow, not a bathroom with the door shut. Pressurised, flammable, and not to be sprayed near a flame or a heat source. Keep the can away from children entirely and never puncture or burn it, empty or not.

Food, mouths and skin contact

None of our formulas are food safe. Decorate the outside of a mug and keep the finish well clear of the rim and of any surface that touches a mouth. Do not coat the inside of a bowl or plate that food will sit on. They are not for use on skin or nails.

Storing and throwing away

Cap it, stand it upright, keep it above freezing. Dried medium in an empty bottle is inert household waste. Liquid leftovers should not go down a drain in quantity — let a small amount dry out in the jar and bin it, or take a larger amount to a local household waste point.
